Evaluating Color Rendition Using IES TM-30-15

چکیده

ing has been a goal of lighting researchers—and the broader lighting industry—for decades. The utility of the Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage’s (CIE’s) general color rendering index (Ra, commonly called CRI)1 has been demonstrated by its continued use for 50 years, but its limitations and deficiencies are becoming ever more prominent with the advent of solid-state lighting, which provides greater opportunity for spectral engineering than other source types. Within this context, the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) formed the color metrics task group, operating under the IES Color Committee, which produced the technical memorandum IES TM-30-15: IES Method for Evaluating Light Source Color Rendition.2

Update on the INCITS W1.1 Standard for Evaluating the Color Rendition of Printing Systems

The color rendition ad hoc team of INCITS W1.1 is working to address issues related to color and tone reproduction for printed output and its perceptual impact on color image quality. The scope of the work includes accuracy of specified colors with emphasis on memory colors, color gamut, and the effective use of tone levels, including issues related to contouring. The team has identified three ...

Modeling, calibration, and rendition of color logarithmic CMOS image sensors

Logarithmic CMOS image sensors encode a high dynamic range scene in a manner that roughly approximates human perception whereas linear sensors with equivalent quantization suffer from saturation or loss of detail. Moreover, the continuous response of logarithmic pixels permit high frame rates and random access, features that are useful in motion detection. This paper describes how to model, cal...

A multiscale retinex for bridging the gap between color images and the human observation of scenes

Direct observation and recorded color images of the same scenes are often strikingly different because human visual perception computes the conscious representation with vivid color and detail in shadows, and with resistance to spectral shifts in the scene illuminant. A computation for color images that approaches fidelity to scene observation must combine dynamic range compression, color consi...

Novel image enhancement technique using shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks

This paper describes a method for improving image quality in color CMOS image sensol: The technique simultaneously acts to compress the dynamic range, reorganize the signal to improve visibility, suppress noise, identi& local features, achieve color constancy, and lightness rendition. An efJicient hardware architecture and a rigorous analysis of the different modules are presented to achieve hi...

Retinex Image Processing: Improved Fidelity To Direct Visual Observation

Recorded color images differ from direct human viewing by the lack of dynamic range compression and color constancy. Research is summarized which develops the center/surround retinex concept originated by Edwin Land through a singlescale design to a multi-scale design with color restoration (MSRCR). The MSRCR synthesizes dynamic range compression, color constancy, and color rendition and, there...
